The Plum Mustang Junior Varsity Football Team finished the 2012 season with a 5-4 overall record. The JV's earned victories over Baldwin, Mt. Lebanon, Cannon MacMillan, Penn Hills and Mckeesport.
The Ninth Grade Football Team ended the 2012 season with a 35-27 victory over the Baldwin Highlanders. The Freshmen finished up with a 6-2 overall record for the season.
The Mustangs traveled to Pine Richland this past Friday and lost to the Rams. Highlights for the Mustangs were Jai Majors 86 yard kickoff return. Tight End Jeff Ruffing's 68 yard reception from Quarterback Will Fuhrer and a 4 yard touchdown run by fullback Jake Diguilio. On Defense Linebacker Jake Diguilio had another solid outing with 14 tackles. Punter Dylan Kondis had a 43 yard average with one punt traveling 82 yards.
The Junior Varsity traveled out to Mckeesport on Saturday and picked up their Fifth win of the season with a 20-6 victory. The Mustangs were led on Offense by Quarterback Will Fuhrer's two Touchdown passes one to Wide Receiver Phil Mahr and the other to Running Back Zach Kuhn. The Mustangs other score came on a Touchdown run by Running back Zach Martin. On Defense, Defensive End Nathan Kunkle and Cornerback Phil Mahr each added Interceptions. The Junior Varsity improved their season record to 5-3.
The Mustangs traveled to the number 3 ranked Upper Saint Clair Panthers this past Friday night. The Mustangs played a hard fought game against the Panthers keeping the game close in the first half. Highlights for the Mustangs on Defense were Senior Jai Major with 13 tackles, and Jake Diguilo adding 10. Up next the Mustangs travel out to face off with the Pine Richland Rams.
The Junior Varsity traveled to Penn Hills and won a hard fought contest with a strong running game and a swarming defense to capture a 6-0 victory over the Indians. The JV notched their Fourth Victory of the season improving their record to 4-3.
The Freshmen Team picked up its Fifth Win of the season with a 35-0 victory over the Montour Spartans. They improved their overall record to 5-1. Up next is an away game against the Franklin Regional Panthers.
The Penn Hills Indians traveled to Mustang Stadium and defeated the Mustangs in conference play. Highlights for the Mustangs on Offense were Jake Diguilio's 9 Yard touchdown run and Sophomore Running Back Kyle Smecker 11 carries for 76 yards. On Defense Inside Linebacker Jake Diguilio had 10 Tackles followed by Junior Outside Linebacker Jeff Ruffing adding 8 tackles. The Mustangs go back on the road, traveling to the number 3 ranked Upper Saint Clair Panthers.
The young Mustangs recorded their Fourth win of the season with a 21-8 victory over the visiting Mckeesport Tigers. Their overall record for the season moves to 4-1. Up next is Montour at home.
The Junior Varsity traveled to Peters Township and lost a hard fought close game 8-6 bringing their overall record to 3-3.
The Mustangs weren't able to get on track this past Friday night and Conference rival Peters Township Indians were able to take advantage. Highlights for the Mustangs were Linebacker Jake Diguilio 12 tackles on defense, followed by Sophomores Nate Turchick and Anthony Rende with 8 tackles each. Up next the Penn Hills Indians at home.
The Junior Varsity captured its Third win of the season with a 36-6 victory over Canon McMillan. The Junior Varsity has improved its overall record for the season to 3-2.
The Mustang lost a close contest this past Friday to Cannon McMillan 16-13. Sophomore Running Back Joey Defelice scored a Touchdown on a 55 yard run in the first quarter. Senior Jake Diguilio added the other Mustang Touchdown on a 2 yard run. On Defense the Mustangs got strong performances from Inside Linebackers Diguilio who had 15 total tackles and Sophomore Nathan Turchick adding 10 stops. Also contributing big was Sophomore Zach Martin with 10 tackles. Senior Punter Dylan Kondis had a solid outing with 43.5 punting average. Up next for the Mustangs Peters Township at home.
The Plum Mustang Freshmen picked up their third victory of the season with a 13-6 win over the Woodland Hills Wolverines bringing their record to 3-1. Up next is the Mckeesport Tigers at home at 3:30 on Wednesday.
